Sandy heads the firm's practice in the Court of Session, and acts in a range of complex and high value litigations. He has a particular focus on commercial litigation and regularly advises clients in professional negligence claims, banking and financial services litigation, property litigation, commercial contracts and construction disputes. Sandy’s team is one of the most prominent in the Commercial Court at the Court of Session and has acted in numerous appeals to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom.
Sandy also has a substantial public law practice and has extensive experience of advising the firm’s private and public sector clients in judicial review proceedings and statutory appeals involving questions of administrative law.
In addition to his practice in the Court of Session, Sandy regularly represents clients in Sheriff Court actions throughout Scotland, as well as arbitration.
He is a keen advocate of mediation and has a strong track record of resolving high value disputes through the mediation process.
Sandy is recognised as a "Leader in the Field" in Litigation Chambers UK Guide to the Legal Profession and a "Leading Lawyer" in Commercial Litigation and a "Recommended Lawyer" in Commercial Litigation, Local Government and Professional Negligence by The Legal 500.
