Laura is a commercial litigator based in our Dispute Resolution team in Edinburgh. Laura's main focus is in cases involving intellectual property and construction disputes. Consequently, the main body of Laura's practice is in the Court of Session, where she has developed wide-ranging experience in the Ordinary, Commercial and Intellectual Property Courts (including copyright, trade mark and patent disputes), as well as acting for clients in Appeals before the Inner House and presenting of Petitions (to the Nobile Officium; for Suspension and Interdict; and for Judicial Review).
In addition to her Court of Session practice, Laura represents clients in adjudications, cases before the UK Supreme Court and in hearings before the UK Intellectual Property Office.
Advising clients at both pre-litigated and litigated stages means that Laura is acutely aware of the value and importance of continually assessing prospects of success, best method of recovery and potential scope for settlement; all whilst ensuring compliance with the statutory and regulatory environment within which the client operates.
Laura is ranked as a "Recommended Lawyer" in the Legal 500 for dispute resolution and was shortlisted by the Law Awards of Scotland in their category of "Up and Coming Lawyer of the Year" at the end of 2014.
