Laura advises clients on all aspects of dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, with a particular focus on intellectual property, construction, engineering and energy contracts. It follows, therefore, that the majority of Laura's practice is in the Court of Session, where she has developed a wealth of experience in ordinary and commercial court practice and procedure (acting for a wide range of public and private sector clients in actions involving breach of contract, professional negligence, trade mark infringement, patent infringement) and in the Court's petitions procedure, including those to the Nobile Officium; for Suspension and Interdict; and for Judicial Review.
In addition to her Court of Session practice, Laura represents clients at adjudications, in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland and has represented clients in appeals to both the Inner House and the Supreme Court.
Dealing with disputes at both pre-litigated and litigated stages means that Laura is acutely aware of the value and importance in continually assessing prospects of success, best method of recovery and potential scope for settlement; all whilst ensuring compliance with the statutory and regulatory environment in which the client operates.
Laura is ranked as a "Recommended Lawyer" in the Legal 500 for dispute resolution and was shortlisted by the Law Awards of Scotland in their category of "Up and Coming Lawyer of the Year" at the end of 2014.
