Grant provides advice on all aspects of family law, most commonly involving separation and divorce, financial provision, child maintenance, cohabitation, pre and post nuptial agreements, cohabitation agreements, residence, contact, relocation, adoption and protective remedies. He provides advice to clients located across the Highlands and Islands and appears in Sheriff Courts throughout the north of Scotland.
In his approach, he is sensitive and considerate and appreciates that many cases involving family law issues can be particularly emotional and distressing for those involved. He recognises that the level of stress and emotional upset can be significantly reduced if the appropriate form of resolution is adopted at the outset. Grant firmly believes that it can be advantageous for individuals to resolve their disputes without the use of litigation in the first instance. However, where the particular circumstances dictate and Court action is necessary, he is an effective litigator.
In his spare time, Grant is involved with Relationships Scotland – Family Mediation Highland and their child Contact Centre in Inverness. He is also a member of the Family Law Association and a Notary Public.
