Charles has considerable experience in all areas of family law. He qualified in 1998 and has practised family law since that time. He is a member of the Family Law Association and is a trained Collaborative Law Practitioner. He has been a Partner in two other firms between the years of 2003 and 2020.
Charles considers that family law cases should be handled sensitively and, where possible, with clients being involved in the process and resolution of matters. He is a strong advocate of alternative dispute resolution which helps to avoid costly and time consuming litigation for clients.
Charles is aware of the needs of clients and conscious of the emotional aspects involved in family law issues. He is a Board Member of The Spark, which is a counselling organisation, and is a Committee Member of the Glasgow Collaborative Practitioners "Pod". Collaborative Practice is a form of alternative dispute resolution which allows clients to be actively involved in all negotiations.
Charles has particular experience in relation to high value financial provision, child residence and contact and child relocation cases in both the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. He has also acted on behalf of a number of children over the years who have sought advice or representation in relation to residence, contact and relocation issues.
