James MacGregor and Paul Macdonald advised on the sale of Scottish based broker, First Independent Finance Limited, to the LDF group creating an enlarged merged group which it is anticipated will provide £400m in finance annually, to both the corporate and professional sectors. The LDF group is backed by private equity fund Cabot Square, with the merged business creating the largest independent SME finance provider in the UK. Our team advised First Independent Finance Limited’s founder Allan Ross on all aspects of the transaction process.

We advised David & Nigel Webster on the sale of the entire issued share capital of Laidir Leisure Limited to Sport-Tiedje GmbH.
Laidir Leisure Limited, which trades as Powerhouse Fitness, was founded by David Webster (Senior) in 1980 and has nine stores nationwide, including two in Glasgow, one in Edinburgh and one in Aberdeen.
It owns the successful Bodymax brand and is the longest established fitness equipment supplier in the UK market. The company reported turnover of £22 million in the financial year to June 2015.
The acquisition by Sport-Tiedje GmbH creates a combined group with an estimated value of around £63 million.
