Space to grow: Harper Macleod joins UK Space Agency Accelerator

News

Law firm Harper Macleod is now part of an exciting new initiative: the next phase of the UK Space Agency Accelerator. This programme is designed to support space entrepreneurs across the UK, helping them grow their businesses and strengthen the wider space sector. This is a significant opportunity, not just for the businesses involved, but for the UK economy.

The delivery team brings together a wealth of expertise:

  • Entrepreneurial Spark – project lead and entrepreneurial growth experts
  • Exotopic – specialists in space commercialisation and market development
  • Technia – product development and innovation specialists
  • Cowe Communications – brand, storytelling, and messaging experts
  • A network of investment experts including fund managers and angel syndicate leads
  • Our Constellation – a group of exited founders and C-suite executives supporting geospatial businesses

Harper Macleod has a long history of working with project lead Entrepreneurial Spark having partnered with the organisation since its inception more than 10 years ago. This complements the team’s extensive work with the start-up and scale-up community.

Jo Nisbet, a partner in Harper Macleod’s Corporate, Commercial and Regulatory team, said: “We’re proud to be part of this collaborative effort, working with a great team to drive innovation and commercial success in the UK’s space sector. “The UK Space Agency Accelerator marks a key moment for the UK’s space sector. By bringing together legal, commercial, and technical expertise, we’re not just supporting entrepreneurs, we’re contributing to a globally competitive space economy. It’s exciting to be part of a team that’s so committed to turning bold ideas into real world ventures.”

Harper Macleod has a proven track record in the space sector, advising on major projects, such as Glasgow-headquartered space tech startup R3-IoT as it secured a £3.1m investment in its preparations to expand internationally. The firm has been recognised in the Legal 500 Green Guide and named ESG Firm of the Year for its work in sustainability and innovation.

The UK space sector is already contributing over £17.5 billion a year to the economy and supports more than 45,000 jobs. As global demand for space services continues to grow, this is a sector that’s helping to shape the UK’s future economy.
