All smiles as Harper Macleod advises on ownership transition of Glasgow dental practice

News
Healthcare law specialists at Scottish law firm Harper Macleod have advised on the sale of Smiles@Legacy, a well-established dental practice in Glasgow’s East End, as it transitions to new ownership.
The firm’s corporate team supported longstanding owners Gordon and Lesley McGavin in selling the business to two of the practice’s associate dentists, Anna Britton and Rachel Macdonald. The transfer ensures a smooth handover and continued high quality care for patients in the local community.
Both Anna and Rachel have been integral members of the practice’s clinical team for several years and are well-placed to lead the practice into its next chapter. Their appointment as new owners reflects a strong commitment to the values that have made Smiles@Legacy a trusted name in local dental care.
The Harper Macleod team advising on the deal was led by partner Craig Ramsay, with support from Aiden Paterson (Corporate), Jenna McLean (Commercial Real Estate), and Scott Milligan (Employment).
Commenting on the deal, Lesley McGavin said:
“Harper Macleod came highly recommended, and I wouldn’t hesitate to pass on that recommendation. From the outset, Aiden and Craig provided consistent support throughout the process. They were responsive, clear, and made what could have been a complex transaction feel straightforward. I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts in completing the sale.”
Craig Ramsay, partner in Harper Macleod’s Corporate, Commercial & Regulatory team said: “We continue to see strong activity in the dental sector across Scotland and this deal is another great example of the next generation of associates stepping up to take ownership of high-quality practices. “Gordon and Lesley have built an excellent practice, and it was a pleasure to help them achieve a successful deal while securing the future of the practice under familiar and capable leadership.”
Harper Macleod’s healthcare team acts for a wide range of clients across the sector, including dental and GP practices, pharmacies, and care home providers, on matters ranging from business sales and acquisitions to property, funding and regulatory matters.
