Harper Macleod's Insolvency and Restructuring lawyers have been recognised as being among the best in the UK by being named Regional Insolvency Team of the Year at the prestigious Insolvency & Rescue Awards.
The industry's landmark annual event saw Harper Macleod, one of Scotland's leading commercial law firms, see off strong competition from across the UK to take the prize in front of 750 guests at the London Lancaster Hotel on Wednesday night.
The firm was also shortlisted in the Personal Insolvency Firm of the Year category in the seventh annual I&R Awards, which recognise best practice and commitment to rescue across the insolvency and corporate recovery arena.
Harper Macleod's Insolvency specialists - ranked as one of the leading practices in the UK by independent legal directories Chambers UK and Legal 500 - advise on both corporate insolvency and restructuring and personal insolvency for clients ranging from government and leading financial institutions to property groups, major corporations and individuals.
Insolvency Partner Andrew Hunter said: "We were delighted to be named among the leading advisers in the UK when the shortlists were announced. It is always particularly satisfying to be recognised by your peers, and to come away with this award is testament to the work we are doing across the board, in both corporate and personal insolvency, and the talent we have within the team."
Fellow Partner James Lloyd, who is recognised as a leader in the field of both corporate restructuring and personal insolvency, added: "We are genuinely thrilled to have picked up this award, which is a tremendous reward for the hard work and dedication of everyone in the team. Our clients expect the highest standards and we set ourselves a goal of being the best insolvency practice in Scotland, and the best we can be. This award shows we've gone some way to achieving that goal."
In the past year the team, led by Partners recognised as 'Leaders in the Field' by the leading UK legal directories, has advised on several major corporate restructurings, helping clients achieve their strategic goals and save a significant number of jobs in the process. The firm is also the sole legal adviser to Accountant in Bankruptcy, the Scottish Government official responsible for supervising the bankruptcy process.
