Harper Macleod, Legal Adviser to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, enjoyed a fantastic night at the Scottish Legal Awards 2014, held in Edinburgh's Assembly Rooms on Thursday night (20 March).
In front of a sell out audience, and with event receiving a record number of entries this year, the firm lifted the prestigious Firm of the Year title, the third time Harper Macleod has won this accolade following successes in 2010 and 2006.
Harper Macleod is the current Firm of the Year at both of Scotland's legal awards, and has now won such a title seven times in the past eight years.
The firm also took the Family Team of the Year title to make it an extra special evening in Harper Macleod's 25th anniversary year.
Celebrating the firm's hat-trick of Firm of the Year titles, Harper Macleod Chief Executive Martin Darroch, who collected the award along with Chairman Lorne Crerar and a number of the firm's Partners, said: "It is a tremendous honour to be named Firm of the Year, particularly as 2014 is such a milestone for Harper Macleod and also sees us acting as Legal Advisers to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Every time you win an award it is very special, and we believe it's a testament to the dedication and talent of everyone at the firm, lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
"It is particularly satisfying to be recognised in a specialism that as a leading commercial law firm people do not always associate with us, such as family law. We are a full service firm, and strive to provide excellence of service for individuals as well as businesses and organisations.
"We are driven to be the best we can be for all of our clients and our success is reliant on their success. Awards such as these are a reflection of the close relationship we have them, along with all our other contacts and friends, and we'd like to thank them all for their continued support."
It was a first national award for the family law team of Partners Alan Susskind, Janice Jones, Amanda Masson and Associate Alexis Miller, who were all at the event to accepted their trophy from hosts Grant Stott and the BBC's Catriona Shearer.
Working throughout the country, the team has accredited specialists in all areas of family law and places emphasis on the range of options available to people going through a difficult time, including negotiation, mediation and collaboration.
Alan Susskind said: "We are absolutely delighted to be named Family Team of the Year. Our team has been growing in size and reputation over the past few years, and it is nice to see our efforts recognised by our peers. It is hard to measure work which by its very nature is so personal, but we pride ourselves in providing clients with the best advice possible with sensitivity and objectivity, and this award shows that we are achieving that goal."
The firms also made the shortlist in the Residential Property Team of the Year category.
Earlier this month, the firm also picked up a UK-wide award for the Most Innovative Use of Social Media at the MPF Awards for Management Excellence in London.
