Harper Macleod, Legal Advisers to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, is delighted to have been named Law Firm of the Year at the Law Awards of Scotland, the third time in four years that the firm has received that accolade at the prestigious event.
Chairman Lorne Crerar and Chief Executive Martin Darroch were also crowned Managing Team of the Year for the third year in a row, and the fourth time in the past five years, at the event in Glasgow's Radisson Blu Hotel.
This was the 10th anniversary of the Law Awards, and Harper Macleod Senior Partner Rod Mackenzie, who was the event's first ever Solicitor of the Year in 2004, collected the Firm of the Year award along with Martin Darroch.
Darroch said: "We are absolutely delighted to once again have our efforts recognised by our peers. As a firm we are driven to be the best we can be for all of our clients, and awards such as these are a reflection of the close relationship we have with all of our clients, contacts and friends.
"Our success is reliant on our clients' success, and we'd like to thank them all for their continued support as we enter what promises to be the most exciting and rewarding year of our firms' history."
Harper Macleod has already enjoyed record results in 2013, posting its highest ever fee income of £21 million for 2012-13, a rise of 9.5% on the previous financial year.
Firms within Harper Macleod's Connect2Law network – the country's leading referral and support network made up of more than 200 independent firms from across Scotland - were also prominent at last night's awards.
Five Connect2Law firms were nominated in no fewer than 10 categories, with Caritas Legal Limited taking the Private Client Firm of the Year award, and Vanessa Ingram of VI Pension Law Limited taking the Sole Practitioner of the Year award.
Other C2L firms up for awards were Bridge Litigation, Innes & Mackay and Glasgow Law Practice.
Martin added: "We are delighted for the Connect2Law firms who were both winners and were shortlisted for awards last night. We are very proud of Connect2Law and it is great to have such a wonderful network of connections to our firm, which represent 19% of the country's law firms."
