Leading law firm Harper Macleod, Legal Adviser to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, is delighted to announce that Amanda Masson has joined its Family Team as a Partner from MHD law.
The addition takes the number of new faces at the firm since the launch earlier this year of a major recruitment drive – Just The Beginning - into double figures, and reinforces Harper Macleod's position as one of Scotland's top five law firms.
Amanda's decision to join the firm is another indication of its status as a leading player in the Family Law sector. The specialist mediator and expert in collaborative law brings the number of Partners in the Family Team to three along with Alan Susskind and Janice Jones - all of whom are accredited specialists - while the team has also appointed a new Family Team Manager, Janice Percival.
Chief Executive Martin Darroch said: "Amanda's decision to choose Harper Macleod is just one of many significant appointments we have made in recent months, and we continue to look for the most talented solicitors to join our ongoing success story. Since we launched our latest recruitment drive we have been able to report a 9.5% rise in turnover in the past financial year, with growth is every single sector in which we operate.
"This demonstrates why we need to attract the best people, as well as continuing to promote from within, and we have been inundated with people wanting to be part of Harper Macleod. Everything we do is about meeting prospective client demand and ensuring we have the capacity to match our growth ambitions."
Since March, the firm's award-winning Energy & Natural Resources group, named Energy Team of the Year 2013, has been bolstered by the additions of Partner Steven Brown and Associate Michael Johnston from McClure Naismith, while solicitor Stephen Higgins has joined the Rural team.
Catharine MacDonald left DLA Piper to join the Banking & Finance team as an Associate.
The firm's Real Estate team has seen the addition of solicitor Jenna Chisholm while Craig Turok has assigned the remainder of his traineeship from Dickson Minto and will qualify in September.
Eoghann Green has joined the Insolvency team as a solicitor, Collette Miller joined the Public Sector team from East Ayrshire Council, while the Insurance team has seen the addition of Megan Keenan, who has transferred the remainder of her traineeship from HBM Sayers and will qualify in August.
The firm's Inverness office has also been enhanced by the recruitment of solicitor James Duff into the Dispute Resolution team.
Harper Macleod has also appointed a number of key support staff including document production specialist Lynn Rhodie and senior IT support analyst Liam Mulgrew.
During this period Harper Macleod has also continued its commitment to developing talent from within by promoting three solicitors to Associate: Chris Dickson, a member of the Real Estate & Construction team who is currently on secondment at Glasgow 2014; Amy Dickson in Insurance; and Ruth McNaught of the Public Sector & Housing team.
The firm is still actively pursuing lateral hires in several areas including Corporate, Banking & Finance, Planning and Insurance.
