Harper Macleod has announced nine new appointments and promotions as part of its strategy for future growth into 2013. The firm's sustainable growth strategy has seen it enhance its position within its key sectors over the last 12 months and cement its position as one of the country's leading law firms.
Within Harper Macleod, three Associates have been promoted to Partner: Heather Calderwood (Insurance); David Kerr (Litigation); and Katrina Ovenden (Real Estate). In addition, two new Partners, Euan Pirie and Euan Mitchell, join the firm's Public Sector, Housing & Infrastructure Team, bringing over 35 years experience in major construction and infrastructure projects.
Four Assistants have also been promoted to Associate: Iain Baird (Energy); Murray Steel (Insurance); Marina McFaulds (Insurance) and Graeme McNee (Business Advisory, currently seconded as Legal Manager to Glasgow 2014, the Organising Committee of the Commonwealth Games).
Harper Macleod Chief Executive Martin Darroch commented: "Each appointment and promotion reinforces our continued commitment to our key sectors and builds upon the success we have achieved in these areas during 2012. Given the current challenging economic conditions, it is vital that we can deliver a commercially aware service to our clients and are able to adapt and extend our service offering in line with our clients' evolving requirements. These appointments will, I believe, help position our firm for continued growth in Scottish, wider UK and international markets. I congratulate and welcome each of them and it is a great pleasure to attract talent into the firm and importantly, continue to deliver upon our 'Employer of Choice' strategy through the continued promotion of our excellent group of aspiring lawyers."
Talking of the appointments and the firm's ambitions, Harper Macleod Chairman Professor Lorne Crerar said: "For us, it's about finding ways to collaborate with our clients to deliver results and ensure we are partners in their success. I strongly believe these appointments and promotions will help us to achieve that. Identifying new opportunities for growth and maintaining a constant focus on keeping our service offering in line with client need enables us to strengthen and extend our client base, as well as fostering the wellbeing of employees and other stakeholders of Harper Macleod."
