The go to lawyers in the north of Scotland
The north of Scotland is a fantastic place to live and do business, and no-one knows this better than us.
We are the largest full-service Scottish law firm with an office in the Highlands, having set up in Inverness in 2004 and never looked back. We have unrivalled knowledge of the local economy and the industries which are driving growth in the area. In 2015 we expanded and increased our commitment to the whole of Scotland with the opening of our Shetland office ensuring we can offer our services anywhere in the country.
Our Chairman and co-founder, Professor Lorne Crerar, is also Chairman of Highlands and Island Enterprise, the agency responsible for economic and community development for a diverse region, which covers more than half of Scotland’s land mass.
As well as being an Inverness law firm, we have an offices in Elgin, Lerwick and Thurso, which extends our reach and places us close to the exciting developments taking place in Scotland's modern rural economy, from businesses to the marine economy as well as traditional areas of agriculture, fishing and forestry.
We are embedded in the local communities, both business and otherwise, and have the network of connections you need. Suffice to say, no Scottish law firm knows the Highlands and Islands like we do.
We have one of the largest legal teams on the ground in the north of Scotland with more lawyers recognised as leaders in their field than any other firm in the region.

Work examples
Energy
Since 2010 we have hosted the annual Scottish Highland Renewable Energy Conference in Inverness, welcoming more than 1000 people to the city. Members of our Energy & Natural Resources team have advised on more than a third of the installed renewable energy generation in Scotland, much of it in the Highlands and Islands.
Inverness College UHI Campus
Our Infrastructure & Projects team advised on the £50 million project to build a spectacular new campus which opened its doors to students in 2015. The campus will act as a major catalyst for the future economic development of the city and wider region and the project involved the development of a new campus for Inverness College and the University of the Highlands and Islands across two sites in the north of Scotland.
Sport
We are recognised as the leading sports law firm in Scotland, advising individuals, clubs and governing bodies throughout the full range of sport in Scotland and beyond. When Inverness Caledonian Thistle faced losing a player, Josh Meekings, for the Scottish Cup Final in 2015 following an alleged deliberate handball in the semi-final, they called on us. We were successful in having the complaint dismissed without sanction.
Next generation broadband connectivity
Next generation broadband connectivity is particularly important in the Highlands, and particularly challenging given the number of geographically remote communities. We advised on the procurement of a £140m next generation broadband solution for the Highlands and Islands, a project described by the Scottish Government as the most complex infrastructure project of its kind ever undertaken in the UK.
Inverness Chamber of Commerce
Ross Thomson, one of our Inverness-based Partners, is also the president of Inverness Chamber of Commerce, the largest independent business organisation based in the Highlands, taking over the hotseat in April 2015. Ross was previously vice-president of the Chamber.
Ports & Harbours
We advise a number of the supply chain who keep the north’s ports operating; we are retained to advise on the multi-million pound redevelopment of Wick Harbour, and have previously been involved in projects relating to Scrabster Harbour amongst others.
Life Sciences
We are a leader in provision of advice to emerging technology businesses in the life science and digital health sector, and assisting in the partnering and collaboration of industry, academia, the health service and government.
We found Gary Campbell to be efficient, thorough and very pleasant to deal with. Susan Breen also deserves mention as a highly competent, capable and personable member of your team. We couldn't be happier with their service.
