Getting Scotland Moving – the inside track on Moray's property market

Karen Logan is the Property Manager at Harper Macleod's Estate Agency in Elgin. With more than 20 years' experience she and her team provide a comprehensive service to those looking to sell their property. Here, Karen looks at the current market across Moray.

Activity and trends

Since we came back to work at the end of June the property market in Elgin and Moray has been buoyant, both for properties coming onto the market and for sales. Homes are generally going for over the asking price if in good condition or in a sought-after area. It is not a particular price range we are seeing that is selling best, but properties new to the market simply aren't staying on it for very long.

Dealing with Covid

Sellers and buyers are coping well – they tend to still want to see inside a property rather than by virtual viewing before deciding to buy and we have been able to accommodate that.

Who's buying?

Like our colleagues in the Highlands and Shetland, we are seeing buyers from south of the Border moving up to Moray, and also those from inner city areas of Scotland to country or village locations.

Top tips for selling

Do a bit of work to ensure that the property is in as good condition as possible, particularly if any 'issue' is something that may show up in a Home Report.
