How to keep track of the most up-to-date, official coronavirus advice

Updated 7 April 2020

At a time when everything is changing, certainly by the day, if not by the hour, how do you keep track of the latest developments in coronavirus advice.

Our Harper Macleod Coronavirus Advice Hub is being updated all the time for the latest legal advice on issues that affect businesses and organisations.

If this doesn't have the answers you are looking for, we have pulled together a list of official sources that are being updated regularly to reflect the most up-to-date advice. We recommend that you use these official sources rather than potentially unreliable advice circulating on social media.

Health advice

The health of you, your family, friends and colleagues is of the utmost importance at this time. Follow guidelines from the NHS and World Health organisation and try to avoid unofficial, unreliable advice.

The governmental response

The government is grappling with a comprehensive response to the consequences of the coronavirus. Elements of this response change from day-to-day so it is important to stay well informed.

Financial support for businesses

The biggest financial support package in history has been announced to mitigate against the economic impact of the current crisis. Be wary of the differences in the support available as between Scotland and England with regard to business rates reliefs and grants for the retail, hospitality and leisure sector.

Legal sector

The Law Society of Scotland has a designated coronavirus advice webpage which is being kept up to date and providers of services to the legal sector are working to find solutions to keep their services going so that the administration of justice can continue and essential transactions can proceed.
