As lockdown continues to ease in Scotland, it's time to get out and active again and explore our local areas – it would be nice if the sun made a comeback too.

With just a few weeks left of the summer holidays, we're lucky with so many things to see and do on our doorstep, we're spoiled for choice, so here's a few of our fav walks, parks and activities to inspire you this Summer.

Strawberry picking at your local farm shop (Craigie Farm, Broadslap, East Yonderton), Heads of Ayr Farm Park Highland nature reserve, Edinburgh Zoo, Jarlshof, Go Ape and Historic Scotland are opening over 200 of their outdoor sites, just check before you set off.

Fancy a challenge?

Did you know the Commonwealth Games took place in Glasgow 6 years ago this Summer? Why don't you recreate some of those gold medal memories by taking on a game-time challenge?

  • Kids Nature walk bingo
  • Make your own archaeological dig / pirate treasure / ice age
  • Easy make puff pastry recipes (it’s the new banana bread)
  • Host your own sports day/obstacle course
  • Water fight – turn on the sprinklers, get out the paddling pool, a bucket of water, soak some sponges and go!  For a little extra fun fill up some balloons, hang them on the washing line for water balloon piñata.
  • Rock pool at the beach
  • Grow your own butterflies
  • Fly a kite
  • Make a beastie hotel, bird bath or feeder from recycled bits from around the house with these handy guides from RSPB.
  • Bedtime BBQ grab some cosy blankets, coorie in and toast some marshmallows/smores in the garden.
