The Scottish EDGE Final never fails to disappoint and Round 10 was no different. The crowds packed into the Gogarburn Conference Centre to hear pitches from some of Scotland's best entrepreneurial talent.
Hosted by Mel Sherwood there was plenty to entertain and who knew Mel was such a singing sensation!
Round 10 attracted 240 applications, with 20 businesses advancing to the final pitching competition. With businesses ranging from a rat trapping device to an online tool for people with diabetes there were plenty of pitchtastic performances.
The award ceremony included a fantastic presentation from Steve Dunlop from Scottish Canals. Steve's insights into the organisation's regeneration projects encapsulated the culture of Scottish Edge - it's not what we do, it is who we do it for.
This concept of 'who it is for' was further echoed with Scottish EDGE's recently launched EDGE Pledge. The EDGE Pledge is a new initiative from Scottish EDGE which allows previous winners the opportunity to give back to help the next generation of entrepreneurs.
A total of £1.24million of prize money was awarded on the night and we are delighted to say that many of Harper Macleod's clients were among the night's winners.
The applications for Round 11 open online on 30 July and we look forward to seeing the next round of fantastic businesses. For those left disappointed on the night remember, 55% of winners between Rounds 5 and 9 were awarded funding on their second, third, or fourth attempt.
Congratulations to all the winners last night and good luck to those applying at Round 11.
