Commercial Dispute Resolution Associate / Senior Associate (6+ PQE)


Job summary

Harper Macleod’s Commercial Dispute Resolution team is one of the largest in the country and is routinely instructed in the very highest profile litigations in Scottish Courts.  The team and many of our individual practitioners are consistently recognised by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500.

From our offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Elgin, Thurso and Lerwick, our highly experienced team deals with a broad range of commercial and civil disputes for private and public sector clients, including high value and complex litigated cases in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court., We regularly represent clients in appeals to the Supreme Court. We also have a significant cross-border litigation practice, led by our English-qualified partner.

We are looking for a solicitor to join our Glasgow team at Associate or Senior Associate level, primarily to work alongside the head of our Glasgow Litigation team.

The role will be varied and challenging and will involve acting in a wide range of commercial disputes including banking and financial services litigation, shareholder disputes, sports-related disputes, professional negligence, post-transactional warranty claims and intellectual property disputes.

We are seeking candidates with at least six years’ PQE in a dispute resolution role and who are currently in a senior solicitor or an associate position. The successful applicant will be a self-starter, ambitious, with excellent technical skills and attention to detail. Experience of intellectual property disputes will be an advantage.

Applicants should have extensive experience of conducting their own advocacy in the Sheriff Court and have ambition to further develop that part of their career. They will also be expected to assist in the training and supervision of junior solicitors and trainees, as well as engage in business development. The ability to work confidently and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment is essential.
