people profile - Michelle

Name: Michelle Rankin
Position: Paralegal
Department: Banking
I joined Harper Macleod as an Administrator in 2002. As soon as I started in the Banking department I worked as part of a close team and was able to progress quickly and learn from my colleagues. I was encouraged to take on responsibility and from the outset I had lots of client contact. Within a couple of years I was already in practice fulfilling the roll of a paralegal and shortly thereafter I formally passed my paralegal exam in conveyancing at Strathclyde University.
Harper Macleod actively encourages staff to develop within the firm. When I approached the firm to ask for assistance with studying at Strathclyde University part time to gain a Law Degree, there was no hesitation in confirming support.
I have recently completed my second year of my degree and have four more to go. I am looking forward to qualifying and becoming a solicitor within Harper Macleod and who knows a partner one day!
Harper Macleod is also keen to recognise effort and commitment to the firm. I was delighted to be voted by the partners last year for "Employee of the Year 2005/6".
