Harper Macleod Appoints First Connect2Law Business Development Manager

Harper Macleod LLP has appointed solicitor Anne Macdonald as its first Connect2Law Business Development Manager.

Connect2Law is an innovative referral membership network for law firms.  Through the scheme, Harper Macleod offers its broad range of expertise to the clients of smaller legal firms on a non-poaching, fee share, referral basis.  This enables the smaller firm to retain clients and receive a share of the final fee.

Connect2Law was established by English firm Pannone five years ago.  Harper Macleod became the first and only Scottish "hub" in November 2007.  Since its official launch in January 2008, the scheme has gone from strength to strength.  Harper Macleod has signed up 25 Scottish referral member firms and is experiencing an increase in the number of enquiries and referrals from those firms.  This led to the creation of the Business Development Manager role, which creates an alternative career path for staff.

Anne Macdonald joined Harper Macleod as a Trainee Solicitor in 2005, qualifying in 2007 when she joined the Banking & Finance Team.  She also has experience of the Court of Session department in the firm's Edinburgh office and the Corporate team in the firm's Inverness office.

Harper Macleod Partner, Christopher Kerr who manages the scheme said, "Harper Macleod is a logical partner for Pannone, given our client-focus and unique position as the only Scottish firm with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness.  Equally, Anne is a logical choice for this new role given her background and experience.  Our goal is to grow this business opportunity and make Connect2Law even more successful for our clients and referral member firms."
