Harper Macleod Adds Pensions Expertise to Employment Team
Harper Macleod LLP confirmed its position as one of Scotland's leading full service commercial law firms with the merger of its Employment and Pensions & Incentives Practice Groups.
The merger allows clients greater ease of access to the full range of the firm's services and to the ever-increasing areas of expertise. Three of the Group's partners are accredited by the law Society of Scotland in their respective areas - Scott Moncur in Pensions Law and Rod McKenzie & Claire McManus in Employment Law.
Harper Macleod's well established employment team is described as "well regarded" by The Legal 500, with clients such as Direct Line, Optical Express, THUS and The Student Loans Company. Following the merger of the Employment Pensions & Incentives Practice Groups, the team - which includes 4 Partners - has expanded to include Scott Moncur, who joined Harper Macleod LLP in March 2004. He has over ten years experience in occupational and personal pensions and is uniquely placed to advise on pension issues, ensuring that clients' pension and incentive packages are legally sound, maximise available tax advantages and promote and reflect the goals of the organisation.
The Employment, Pensions & Incentives Practice Group's aim is to deliver practical advice on the application of law on all employment issues, including pension arrangements and incentive packages to employers, trustees and individuals.
Moncur commented; "The law can and should be used to facilitate business goals, and planning pensions or incentive packages should not be an exception. There is much that can be done to prepare for the changes in pensions and incentives. In the meantime, all those involved with these plans have to balance their costs against the value that they add to personal or corporate financial health. Our Employment, Pensions and Incentives Practice Group is ideally placed to utilise the law to help clients resolve any issues they may have in this area."
