Strategic New Hire at Harper Macleod to Strengthen a Growing Real Estate Team

Harper Macleod LLP, one of Scotland's leading commercial law firms, is pleased to announce the appointment of Jan Foster as Associate with the Real Estate Practice Group at the firm's Glasgow office.

Formerly with Macroberts, Jan brings to Harper Macleod over 17 years of experience (11 at Macroberts) in property development and investment work.  With  considerable knowledge, skill and experience, Jan joins Harper Macleod to bolster the top-end of the Practice Group in relation to investment and development transactions.

The appointment comes at an exciting time for Harper Macleod's Real Estate Practice Group which has seen turnover increase by a substantial 38% this year alone.  The Practice Group has also grown significantly in size in 2006, taking on two new associates and a Partner, David Steel, who was appointed in October.  October also saw the promotion of Philip Curle to Partner with the Group.

Professor Lorne Crerar, Chairman, said: "Her skills and experience naturally complement our Real Estate team.  Already she has proven to be a very valuable asset to clients and colleagues alike.

"The Real Estate Practice Group is one of the largest and most successful within the firm and we expect continued development over coming years."

The appointments supplement a very successful year for Harper Macleod, who were awarded the title 'Law Firm of the Year' by Scotland's two most prestigious law awards: The Law Awards of Scotland and The Scottish Legal Awards.  This makes the firm one of only two firms to have ever been awarded the title twice in the same year.

Established in 1988 by Professor Lorne Crerar and Rod McKenzie, Harper Macleod has evolved into a firm with 34 Partners, 102 Fee Earners and a complement of 190 staff.  The firm is renowned for its expertise in Sports, Public Sector & Housing, Employment, Banking, Recoveries, Corporate, Real Estate and Litigation.
