Regeneration and Localism Top the Agenda at 9th National Housing Conference

Regeneration, sustainable communities and a local focus were the hot topics at the 9th National Housing Conference, hosted last week (Wednesday 8 February) by Harper Macleod LLP.

Over 100 delegates gathered at Dunblane Hydro Hotel to hear Mike Neilson, Head of Group for Housing and Regeneration, Scottish Executive, David Orr, Chief Executive, National Housing Federation and Len Freedman of Harper Macleod LLP discuss the latest issues in the drive towards empowering and reinvigorating local communities.

Malcolm Chisholm MSP, Minister for Communities, delivered the keynote address whilst James McMorrow from Harper Macleod covered the evolving role of registered social landlords.

Former "Public Sector Firm of the Year", Harper Macleod is recognised as one of the leading social housing practices. The Social Housing & Community Development Practice Group has unmatched experience in acting both with and for a wide range of clients in the social housing sector, including registered social landlords, local authorities, private lenders and statutory and regulatory organisations.

Commenting on the success of this year's National Housing Conference, Harper Macleod's Managing Partner Professor Lorne Crerar said; ""Our expertise in social housing continues to put us ahead of the pack and we are delighted that the key date in the annual housing calendar remains so popular. Yet again, we benefited from articulate and engaging speakers who covered the most topical issues in social housing and provided stimulating grounds for discussion throughout the day."
