Former D&W Partner Strengthens Harper Macleod Real Estate Team

Harper Macleod LLP, one of Scotland's leading commercial law firms, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Steel as Real Estate Partner in the firm's Glasgow office.

Formerly a member of the Commercial Property team at Dundas & Wilson, David will join Harper Macleod, specialising in development, lease negotiations and acquisitions and disposals.

Professor Lorne Crerar, Managing Partner, said "We are delighted to be welcoming David on board and we are confident that his considerable property expertise will further strengthen our fast growing Real Estate team.  Whilst the firm does not generally grow its practice areas by way of senior hiring, we recognised that in David's case, he would complement and enhance our existing Real Estate offering perfectly.  He brings a breadth of expertise and experience that will be of exceptional value to us.  The firm experienced 30% turnover growth in the least financial year and David will help us to continue to provide and enhance excellence of service to our clients."

Harper Macleod's Real Estate practice is booming, with the appointment of David Steel following the recent appointment of Fraser Hardie in the firm's Edinburgh office.  The Real Estate team has increased in fee earner numbers by 42% in the past two years and has seen turnover increase by 40% in the last year alone.  Harper Macleod now has a presence in the Highlands with the opening of the firm's Inverness office in September 2004, creating a Scotland-wide property team with bases in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness.

Established in 1988 by Professor Lorne Crerar and Rod McKenzie, Harper Macleod has evolved into a firm with 31 Partners, 97 Fee Earners and a complement of 185 staff.  The firm is renowned for its expertise in Sports, Public Sector & Housing, Employment, Banking, Recoveries, Corporate, Real Estate and Litigation and includes the Scottish Premier League, The Scottish Executive, Whitbread, William Hill, BP, Airtricity, Optical Express, Tulloch Limited and The Child Support Agency in its impressive list of clients.
