Harper Macleod's Fergus Thomson Becomes Law Society Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law
Harper Macleod LLP, one of Scotland's leading commercial law firms is delighted to announce the designation of Associate Fergus Thomson as an Accredited Specialist in the field of Personal Injury Law by the Law Society of Scotland.
Fergus becomes one of the youngest of fewer than 50 Accredited Specialists in the field of personal injury in Scotland. His extensive skills and experience in the area have been developed over seven years working in Insurance Litigation. Over this time he has worked exclusively in the field of personal injury law acting for both pursuers and defenders in Sheriff Court and Court of Session proceedings, dealing with injuries arising from road traffic accidents, accidents at work, public liability claim and industrial diseases.
Fergus joined Harper Macleod as an Associate in January 2005 and works with the company's major insurance clients. He is Practice Group Leader of Harper Macleod's Insurance Practice Group, one of the largest of the firm's practice areas.
Chairman Professor Lorne Crerar commented; "We are delighted that Fergus has attained Accredited Specialist recognition from the Law Society. With only around 400 Accredited Specialists nominated by the Law Society from over 10,000 Solicitors in Scotland, this recognition bears testament to his skills and calibre in this specialist area of law."
The Council of the Law Society of Scotland's system of accreditation of specialists confers specialist status on solicitors who can demonstrate expertise gained from practising in an area of specialism and can show significant experience in that field. Accreditation is by means of a process of assessment and adjudication by an Accreditation Panel made up of solicitor members experienced in this area of the law who are drawn from a range of government, public sector and other relevant organisations.
