Inaugural Scottish Highland Renewable Energy Conference 2010
Harper Macleod LLP is delighted to announce the inaugural Scottish Highland Renewable Energy Conference. SHREC aims to provide an understanding of how renewables work and will examine the planning and development considerations; installation and funding issues; grid connectivity and advice surrounding maximising returns for the landowner, developer and the community.
Harper Macleod has been active for many years in providing sound legal advice to operators in the energy, mineral extraction and waste management sectors and were recognised in the 2009 by The Legal 500 as an "energy specialist". This month The Crown Estate announced the successful bidders for each of the nine Round 3 offshore wind zones and the Scottish Government approved the Beauly-Denny power line. We appreciate the impact of the regulations on the future of the UK's electricity supply and by hosting SHREC we aim to create a forum that will inform and inspire.
Originally targeted at Highland landowners, the Energy & Renewables Practice Group recognised the need to produce an event that would bring together industry specialists such as turbine manufacturers and land agents, professional advisers including accountants and surveyors and rural landowners looking to diversify. After approaching key sector specialists, we are delighted to announce a number of high profile speakers including David Cowie, Principal Planner at the Highland Council; Chris Rodgers, Renewable Energy & Asset Finance, The Co-operative Bank and Martin Moran, The National Grid.
The event will take place on Thursday 25 February 2010 at the Drumossie Hotel, Inverness, IV2 5BE between 11.30am and 4.30pm and is open to anyone with an interest in learning more about the opportunities available in this ever changing and increasingly sensitive environment.
Confirmed speakers include
David Cowie, Principal Planner at the Highland Council
Chris Rodgers, Renewable Energy & Asset Finance, The Co-operative Bank
Alec Morrison, Major Contracts Manager, Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Ltd
Elaine Hanton, Head of Energy, Highlands and Islands Enterprise
Maitland Mackie, Mackies Ice-Cream
