Harper Macleod wins Accountant in Bankruptcy contract

Following its reappointment to the Scottish Government Legal Framework Panel, leading law firm Harper Macleod LLP has successfully tendered for the position of legal provider to the Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB). The appointment makes Harper Macleod the sole legal supplier to AiB and the only law firm to have provided it with continuous service for seven years. This was the first 'mini competition' to be carried out under the Scottish Government's new legal framework.

James Lloyd, Partner and Head of Insolvency, will manage the Harper Macleod team who will provide all legal services required by AiB in relation to its regulatory and trustee functions, including conveyancing of heritable property throughout Scotland and division and sales.

Martin Darroch, Chief Executive of Harper Macleod, said: "We are delighted to have been appointed as the sole provider of AiB's legal services. We are looking forward to continuing to work with AiB and AiB Agents to assist them in delivering positive outcomes and an efficient insolvency regime in Scotland and we will continue to provide the high levels of service we hope they have come to expect from us.  This appointment has finished off a successful year for our firm as we retained our position as a top ten law firm in Scotland, grew our turnover by 12% and were appointed as the Official Law Firm for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games."

Established in 1988, Harper Macleod has 46 Partners, 150 fee-earners and a total complement of over 261 staff based in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness.  The firm is noted for its expertise in key industry sectors, including Banks & Financial Institutions; Energy & Natural Resources; Food, Leisure & Hospitality; Insurance; Property & Construction; Public Sector (including Housing); Retail; Sport; and Family-owned Businesses.
