The Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 sets out rights and responsibilities with regards to fire safety and provides that anyone who has a degree of control over a non-domestic building will have some responsibility for fire safety at the building. This also applies to certain domestic premises, such as houses in multiple occupation and care homes.

Changes are being introduced for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) for Scottish properties. Most of the changes will be effective from 1st October 2012, with the remaining changes being effective from 9th January 2013.
