I started my traineeship in Glasgow in 2003 at a time when Harper Macleod was a rapidly expanding business.  This growth has continued throughout my time with the Firm.

The first eighteen months of my traineeship were spent in our Glasgow office and my rotations during that time enabled me to work with and learn from a number of highly skilled people in a diverse range of legal disciplines.

In September 2004, Harper Macleod continued its expansion by opening an Inverness office.  Initially I went to Inverness for a six-month secondment to complete my traineeship.  Having been offered the opportunity, upon qualifying as a Solicitor, to remain in Inverness or to return to our Glasgow office, I chose to remain and continue with the work we had started in growing a successful business in Inverness.

Whilst smaller in size to our other offices, the Inverness office, like Glasgow and Edinburgh, is based upon an ethos of hard work within a fun and sociable environment, which is achieved only through the recruitment of talented and motivated people.  Of particular significance for me has been the opportunity to grow a litigation practice in our Inverness office from essentially a standing start.

A key factor in the Firm's growth is the development and promotion of people from within, and my progression to Partner is an example of this.
