Charities & Social Enterprise
Comprehensive advice on governance and operations
A burgeoning demand for expertise. The work of our Group reflects the burgeoning demand for expert charity law services. We've helped prepare appeals on behalf of parents with autistic children. We've assisted with the restructuring of a charitable World Heritage Site. We've advised one of Scotland's largest mental health charities about regulatory and litigation issues. And we've been at the birth of an organisation to advance environmental protection.
All aspects of governance and operations. We're engaged in advising charities, Registered Social Landlord clients and other not-for-profit organisations on regulation, compliance and risk management; on the role of trustees and the status and constitution of charities; on funding, fund-raising, and, critically, on their relationship with HM Revenue & Customs.
And it's a team with authority. Our Group's senior Partner, Len Freedman, is the Scottish law contributor to the legal textbook Running a Charity, produced by Jordan Publishing. Len has written extensively on charity law reform and he's currently advising our clients about the implications of recent changes in charity law. And one of our Associates, Saria Akhter, is a Chair of the Scottish Charity Appeals Panel.
